We exist because girls do.
Girls do amazing things.
They’re makers, influencers, volunteers, carers, record setters, bond builders, free- thinkers, leaders, followers and mentors. Above all, they’re doers.
How and what they do begins during girlhood. Those developmental years where self-perception is amplified by the people around them. When doing is all about figuring things out.
We exist to give girls the tools to own their identity, the safety to make mistakes and build the resilience to bounce back. From team leaders to behind-the-sceners, we champion all girls. We challenge them to make a difference and encourage them to turn the things they do into springboards for who they choose to become.
What we do
We provide a brave space where girls can turn what they choose to do into springboards for who they can become. Gaining life and leadership skills through activities, community involvement and achievement awards. Designed to empower, our framework allows girls to lead their units and the adventures they have supported and mentored by adult volunteers.
Our volunteers
Passionate women, who are driven by what girls can do, lean on personal experience to create brave spaces for girls to discover their authentic selves. We support them to inclusively mentor girls 5-17yrs, as they develop physically, mentally and socially – wherever they live in Australia.
Our partners
We build valuable partnerships with organisations who share our mission to empower girls. Subject matter experts in what they do and champions of what girls can do, they are chosen for their diversity and suitability in helping our people grow. Good for girls and our organisation, their actions help us to support girls in finding their authentic selves
Our program
Our non-formal education program includes a variety of fun activities that focus on self-development in the areas of practical skills, physical development and relationships with people, appropriate to age and interests. Guides of all ages are involved in decision-making, planning, implementing and evaluating their activities. Within her Unit, the Guide will be a member of a Patrol (4-8 girls), where experiences are shared. Leadership development begins with the youngest Guides and develops as the girls mature.
Girls learn new skills and grow in confidence by challenging themselves. They can do this by taking up challenges associated with badges and awards as part of our Girl Recognition System. Weekly Unit meetings, camps, adventure-based and community service activities make up the Girl Guiding experience. Find out more about How Girl Guides works.
